My Monthly Review - April 2023
I have been publicly sharing my monthly business reviews since January 2022 (scroll to the bottom of this post to see my others).
This is a reset process I go through on the first of every month to review the month that has just been and to plan for the month ahead.
I highly encourage all of my clients and students to do a similar process each month as it helps keep you accountable and see what is working and isn’t working in your business.
If you want a free checklist to use you can grab that here:
If you aren’t regularly tracking what is happening in your business then it’s very difficult to assess what’s working, what isn’t working, what progress you are making (or not making!) and how you can improve.
My review process normally takes me about 20 minutes to complete each month and when I look back on my previous entries I’m so grateful that I have a record of what has been happening so I can look back on how far I have come!
A quick note before we start…
I share this information publicly because I’m a completely open book and want to encourage and inspire other women and mothers about what is possible with their businesses.
When I was starting my ow business I used to follow a few business owners who did something similar to this and I found it hugely inspiring and helpful as it showed me what was possible in my own business.
However, I’m aware that some people find the sharing of business results and revenue numbers triggering, so if that’s you then I suggest you skip this post and jump in to some of my other free content instead :)
Here’s my review from April 2023.

Notes from Last Month
What went well, what didn’t go well…
Some great things have happened this month.
We went on a wonderful family holiday to Anna Bay (north of Sydney). We stayed in a beautiful house overlooking the ocean and just spent some time relaxing (and eating too much!).
I have done a huge overhaul on my TLDC website and shop interface this month. I have updated all the course mockup images and I have also reoganised all my free content (blog posts, YouTube, free downloads etc). into topic themes. I am hoping this will help my community be able to find help on the areas they are struggling with, without needing to trawl through content that they don’t need right now.
I accidentally launched a new (free) program called ‘Project 45’ after talking about how I was starting this on my Instagram stories. This is a wellness type program I have started as I’m turning 45 in 10 weeks time. I was explaining on my stories how I want to feel the best I can by my 45th birthday and was doing a bit of a project in the lead up to it. This created a huge amount of interest in my community and so many people contacted me and told me they wanted to come on the 10 week journey as well. So I launched it as a bit more of a formal community thing and I now have nearly 600 people who are joining in on their own ‘project’. It’s a lot of fun! We are up to Day 6 today. If you want to join in just send me an email or DM and I can add you to the list! Also make sure to follow my personal Instagram page @clareleroy as all the daily content about Project 45 is being uploaded there.
In terms of revenue, April has been a slower month compared to last few months. I think this is probably for a few reasons:
due to inflation etc. people are being more careful with their spending. Many businesses are seeing lower revenue at the moment so I don’t think the pattern I’m seeing is unusual.
April was Easter and a holiday period for most people - this means they are (rightly!) more focused on downtime and spending time with their families than they are on doing professional development
I have been on holidays myself, which means less attention on content creation and showing up as consistently as I normally do
We have changed almost all of the creative assets in our Facebook ad campaigns. This needs time to work itself out and we are waiting for some more consistent data to see which ads are (and aren’t) performing after this change.
Obviously a 6 figure month is nothing to be upset about, but I do think it’s important to keep an eye on trends in the business and watch out for any changes in revenue patterns so we can adjust our strategy as needed.
We will be watching this closely throughout May to see what happens next with sales and revenue.
Overall I’m really happy with how April has gone and looking forward to what’s ahead this month! 🥳
