Build an interior design business website that converts
If you’re looking to attract more interior design clients and grow your business then having a website that converts is a crucial part of your lead generation strategy.
Your website is often the first impression potential clients will have of your business, so it's important to make it count.
In this post I share some tips and strategies for building an interior design business website that not only looks great but also converts visitors into leads.
1: Clearly define your ideal client
Knowing who your ideal design client is will help you tailor your website content and design to their needs and preferences. Make sure your content and imagery talk exactly to that ideal client - e.g. if you ideally want to attract families who want to improve their home then make sure the images, previous projects, copy and images all speak to that specific ideal client. Likewise if you want to attract a high-end client make sure your website conveys that (and doesn’t have a ‘DIY’ feel to it).
2: Make it easy to use
Make sure your website is easy to navigate with a clean and organised layout.
Use high quality images and videos to showcase your work.
Don’t use stock photos!!!
Don’t use weird terms in your menu or navigation (e.g. call your blog a blog - not a ‘notebook’ or ‘journal’).
3: Offer valuable content
Provide content that is helpful and informative to your ideal client. This can include blog posts, case studies or video tutorials. Offer lead magnets such as ebooks, checklists or webinars in exchange for a potential client's contact information.

4: Make it easy to contact you
Include clear calls to action throughout your website.
Also make sure it’s easy to contact you - e.g. via a webform or by including your phone number or email address.
To help even more clients take the first step with you include an online booking form (with a payment gateway) so they can immediately book in for a design consultation if they want to.
The easier you make it to contact you, the more people who will do so!
5: Optimise for search engines
Implement search engine optimisation (SEO) strategies to improve your website's visibility in search results. This includes using relevant keywords, meta descriptions and alt tags.
Although SEO is likely to reduce in importance as AI continues to rise, it’s still an important part of your overall marketing strategy and something to be mindful of as you create content.
6: A/B test your website
Regularly test different elements of your website such as the layout, colour scheme and call to action placement. See what resonates best with your target audience and drives the most conversions.
7: Share social proof
Display testimonials, reviews and client feedback prominently on your website. Social proof will definitely help build trust with potential clients and increase their likelihood of converting.
8: Use video to show your work
Video can be a powerful tool to showcase your portfolio and give potential clients a sense of your design style and approach. Consider creating a video tour of one of your recent projects or a behind the scenes look at your design process.
You can also use Instagram reels and stories as a place to build this same sort of personal connection with your ideal clients.
9: Make your website mobile friendly
More and more people are using their mobile devices to browse the web so it's important to ensure that your website is optimised for mobile users. This means using a responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and to make sure that load times are optimised for mobile devices.
10: Use retargeting ads
If you have budget for it, then retargeting ads can help bring potential clients who have already visited your website back to your site. This can be a powerful way to stay top of mind with potential clients and increase the likelihood of converting them into leads.
To get started with this you will need to add the Facebook and/or Google pixel to your website so it can start tracking your traffic.
By following these steps, you can create a website that effectively converts visitors into leads for your interior design business.
