49 content topic ideas for interior designers [newsletter, blog, YouTube, podcast]
Don’t let another year pass by without getting on top of your content creation for your interior design business.
To help you start taking action and reduce your excuses for content creation I’ve brainstormed 49 content topic ideas for you - one for each remaining week of the year.
These topic ideas can be turned into a newsletter, blog posts, YouTube videos or podcast episodes.
I’ve done the thinking - you just need to take the topic and put your spin on it each week. 👊🏻
Most of you won’t do this and in one year from now you’ll have exactly the same amount of content you have today.
BUT - 1% of you will take action on this post and by the end of the year will have lots of pieces of long-form, valuable content created for your community. 🤩
You also will have built a habit of content creation.
Here’s why that’s helpful:
it will establish you as an expert
it adds value to your community
it will help build trust, respect and authority (i.e. people will learn that you know what you’re talking about)
it will help your community solve and take action on their problems
it will built your brand
it will help you sell your interior design services
It’s also a skill that will help you improve professionally as well as you will:
improve your writing skills
improve your presentation skills
improve your persuasion skills
improve how you communicate your ideas
gain a deeper understanding of your community and niche
feel like you are making a valuable contribution to society by giving more than you are taking
If you want more detail on why creating content is so important then READ THIS BLOG POST next.
Your daily action plan
If you’re convinced and ready to get started (🥳) then here’s your plan of action for how to use the content topic ideas:
pick your platform (weekly newsletter, blog, YouTube or podcast)
get your platform set up, if it’s not already - just Google how to do this, it’s not hard!
plug the topics below into your content calendar (if you need one then try my Notion Notion template) but you can just as easily put these into a Google calendar or even a handwritten diary if that’s all you’ve got - don’t make excuses!
set time aside in your calendar for when you will create the piece of content (if it’s not in your calendar it won’t happen).
Work on the content piece for the set time each day and by the end of the week you’ll have a content piece ready to publish
Here’s an example:
Here’s what a daily plan of action to get a weekly newsletter created across 7 days of half-hour sessions might look like:
Day 1: brainstorm the topic in bullet points and create an outline of what you will talk about. If you want some help with this then use an AI tool like ChatGPT to get some initial ideas (but make sure to put your spin on the content - don’t just use AI to write this or it will be boring and nobody will care!)
Day 2: organise the content you brainstormed into a cohesive framework. If you want a simple, effective framework for creating your content pieces then learn about it in THIS SHORT VIDEO I created.
Day 3: write your newsletter draft
Day 4: write your newsletter draft
Day 5: write your newsletter draft
Day 6: edit your writing and prepare the final draft
Day 7: move your writing over to your newsletter platform and publish or schedule your newsletter for the week!
Doesn’t sound so hard when you break it down like that, does it?
Once you’ve hit publish on the newsletter then you get started on the next one!
Consistency is the key to content creation.
