Build your business around YOU first

In this video series I share daily tasks and actions that will take you around 10 minutes to complete each day and will help you find more interior design clients and make huge progress in your design business.

I hear a lot of excuses and reasons why people can’t start or grow their businesses. “I’ll do it when my kids start school”, “I’ll do it when COVID is over and I don’t have to home school”, “I’ll wait until I have a bit more time”.

The problem with these sorts of excuses is they hold you back from ever achieving anything. Instead of excuses for why you CAN’T do something what you should be doing is designing a life on purpose – so you fit what you want to achieve in terms of goals, dreams, aspirations around what you CAN achieve in your life.

If this means (like it did for me!) that you have to take your kids on design consultations with you then do that.

The only version of business that is right – is what is right for you. Design your business around what works for you and your family first and then fit your clients’ needs in around that. Otherwise – what’s the point of having our own businesses!

Your action step today is to get out a piece of paper/notebook and design your dream life.

·        How many hours do you want to work each day?

·        How many weeks per year?

·        With what type of client (your DREAM client)?

·        How much do you want to earn?

·        How will you manage your kids (take them with you, get a nanny?)

What is YOUR dream scenario for your life? If you dream it you can start to then work out how to put this in to practice and actually make it happen. Until you’ve actually thought it out how do you know what you are aiming for?

Remember – you are capable of a lot more than you think you are!
